Day 13: Psalm 111:1-4
Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the LORD is gracious and merciful.
Week 3: Gratitude
Isaiah 6:3 says, “And one [seraph] called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.’” The idea of gratitude is remarkably close to praise in the vision of Isaiah. This is also an important part of Lent. In addition to recognizing that God is all things to us, we also realize that God has given everything to us. God has given us the world of which we are a part, the food we eat, the homes we live in and even the air that we breathe to stay alive. Practicing gratitude helps us focus on what we have instead of what we do not have. It gives us clear eyes to see that we have more positives in our lives than we have negatives. It is so important to express gratitude both to God and to others. So, let us be aware of what is going on around us so we might express our gratitude. It must be shared to make a difference. Express your gratitude this week!
A Path Through Lent is a daily devotional series that leads us from Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday in preparation for Easter. Lent is a 40 day period before Easter that symbolizes the 40 days that Jesus was in the desert praying and fasting. (Matthew 4, Mark 1, Luke 4).
