Day 6: Psalm 34:1-3, 8
I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth. I praise the LORD—let the suffering listen and rejoice. Magnify the LORD with me! Together let us lift his name up high! Taste and see how good the LORD is! The one who takes refuge in him is truly happy!
Week 2: Praise
Isaiah 6:2-3 says, “Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.’” A seraph is a heavenly being, what we might call an angel today. Isaiah paints a picture of his vision in which the angels fly around the throne of God and praise God’s name. They are in a state of being so excited that they cannot help giving God praise and worshipping God. This is also an important part of Lent. We recognize that God is all things to us and has given us all that we need that we cannot help giving God praise. This week we are looking at the act of praise. We can praise God by praying individually to God, through group worship with others and even as we tell others about what God has done for us. Praise to God can be expressed through music and art and many other creative expressions of ourselves. The best part is that we can praise God anywhere and at any time. So, let us think about how we might praise God this week!
A Path Through Lent is a daily devotional series that leads us from Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday in preparation for Easter. Lent is a 40 day period before Easter that symbolizes the 40 days that Jesus was in the desert praying and fasting. (Matthew 4, Mark 1, Luke 4). Watch for theses daily devotionals to orient your day and your week as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday!
