The purpose of the Ministry of Hospitality at Jenkins Church is to enable and encourage members of our congregation in showing Biblical hospitality to one another, to guests, to the local community, as well as to the stranger.
Ministry of Hospitality
Hospitality is a virtue that is both commanded and commended throughout Scripture. In the Old Testament, God commanded: “When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt” Leviticus 19:33-34
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus discusses the hospitable behavior of those who will inherit the kingdom: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” Matthew 25:35-36
Hospitality at Jenkins Church
The Ministry of Hospitality encompasses greeting newcomers, visiting the homebound, upkeep of our facilities, providing fellowship meals, using technology to welcome others, as well as many other times when we interact with those around us. We work together with the other Ministry leaders to make Jenkins Church a welcoming and inviting place: a place where all can feel God’s love through the people who are a part of our congregation.
